“The Magician’s Nephew” is a fantasy novel by C.S. Lewis, and it is the sixth book in the Chronicles of Narnia series, although it is a prequel to the events of the other books. The story follows two children, Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, who are sent on a magical adventure by Digory’s uncle, the eccentric magician Andrew Ketterley.

Along the way, they encounter talking animals, mythical creatures, and the evil Jadis, who follows them to Narnia and brings chaos and destruction in her wake.
In the end, Digory is given the choice to take an apple that will heal his mother but bring evil into the world, or to leave it and let nature take its course. He chooses to take the apple, and Aslan sends him back to London with it. Upon their return, Digory plants the apple, which grows into a tree that protects the land from evil and becomes the famous Wardrobe tree that figures prominently in “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.”
